Our HR approach is built around these guiding principles:
1. Work is a huge part of life, so managing people effectively is fundamental for the success of every business Line Manager’s Playbook
2. People want to belong and to do a good job, but life can be hard. Mental health awareness at work is really important.
3. Great communication is the quickest and simplest way to improve employee engagement, but it’s not easy to get it right. You need experts on board to help.
4. All humans can react badly to situations, and people fall out – it’s a reality. But this is where things go wrong and start to cost the business in terms of money and reputation. Having great conversations with a human approach is more vital than you think.
5. Effective HR needs 360 degree thinking with a human approach; covering the individual, the manager, the team, your brand, your culture, senior leadership and external legislation.
6. We’re here to build people up. If people don’t want to grow, that’s their choice. In the workplace, we are all adults and thus, we must be held accountable for our actions. We are all responsible for ourselves and the roles we play at work.
We’re huge advocates of mental health awareness and are delighted to see a once taboo subject becoming more openly discussed in the workplace. As MHFA England instructors, we can provide mental health first aid training and bespoke sessions to explore why mental health is important to your business and culture. Read more about it here.

We have no problem in promising that if you follow our guiding principles, improve the wellbeing of your people and consider their mental health, you will see a marked increase in employee engagement. Good HR and focusing on people is the responsibility of the entire business (including senior leadership!) and if everyone plays their part, everyone reaps the benefits.
